WHAT'S IN THE STACKS!

Last September, almost a year ago, we wrote here that we had finally figured out how to easily add shipping options on the site, so that no one had to fiddle around with emailing to find out what it would cost, etc. I have to admit that we were filled with hope and the prospect that this was exactly what we needed to keep the business going. Unfortunately, it didn't work-- there have been few orders of those nifty figurines we're so proud of, and even fewer orders of books.

There comes a time when the tiny business (we can't even honestly call ourselves a "small" business) has to just admit defeat. We can't afford the monthly fees for Amazon's and Abebooks' used book venues, and we aren't having any luck with places like Alibris and A1 Books, which charge commissions rather than monthly fees. So we're going to say goodbye to our little online bookstore dream. A special thanks to all the great people and customers who helped support it for the couple of years that it was viable. While we'd hoped it would be a long-term thing, we did have a lot of fun while it lasted.

As you'll see, the inventory is being thinned. A lot (but not all) of our non-fiction books are gone, and we're going to start cutting into the fiction. If you see something you want, go ahead and order it. If we still have it, we'll send it; if not, you'll get an instant refund. Something to note: If you'd like to make an offer on a number of books at one time, drop us an email (dusty @ dustystacks.com). All offers will be considered, and remember that on boxed orders we ship at USPS cost-- there's no additional shipping and handling. Small orders have a teeny bit built in to cover only the cost of the padded envelope.

Don't forget that we have a specialized selection of signed Buffy the Vampire Slayer books on the Inventory Page, as well as signed Yvonne Navarro books. As far as the Spooky Figurines go, we won't be restocking, so if you see something you like, grab it now. We take payments via PayPal, where you can use your own PayPal account or a credit card.

An Important Note About Emailed Viruses No one from Dusty Stacks Bookstore will EVER send you an email with an "unannounced" attached file. We do NOT send attachments with newsletters -- PERIOD. Outside of that, we don't send attachments that have not been asked for and specifically arranged in advance. Most folks know there are a number of nasty computer viruses propogating out there via email attachments. These viruses get into computers and "steal" email addresses from the user's address books, then replicate themselves by emailiing to each and every stolen address. We do not use Microsoft Outlook or Internet Explorer, nor do we maintain an address book that is accessible to these viruses, so you may rest assured that no one will get your email address from us. Any email you receive with an unexpected attachment that claims to be from us is NOT -- it has been "born" via the address book of someone else, or obtained by programs that scan websites for email addresses to and from which they can then attempt to email computer viruses via attachments. You should never open an unasked-for or unexpected attachment from anyone. You should make this a Zero Exception Policy. We have even seen the Klez virus emailed with the subject header "Returned Mail", so beware!
